Live Near Ringling Museum of Art

When we hear the word “circus,” many of us will think about the same handful of things: clowns in canoe-sized shoes piled into Hot Wheels–sized cars; nimble acrobats flying through the air, tossed from one side of the tent to the other; magnificent animals on display, evoking a sense of awe; and, of course, popcorn, peanuts, and cotton candy, all tastes (and smells) that will forever take us right back to that childhood feeling.

What we might not think about is art. But, for the Ringlings, the name that is indisputably universally synonymous with the word “circus,” art was everything. And one big benefit from renting at Garden Grove is that these apartments are near the Ringling Museum of Art. The museum, just one of many attractions on the sprawling grounds that comprise The Ringling, is a stunning palace of treasures that was first established way back in 1927 by John Ringling and his wife, Mable. The pair—whose stunning home, a bayfront mansion called Ca’ d’Zan, is also on the grounds and can/should be visited—intended for it to become a legacy for the residents of Florida. And it has.

The art museum is home to an astounding 21 galleries that are filled with more than 10,000 objects that range from paintings to sculptures to photographs and more. Any patron of the arts can easily find themselves lost in a reverie for countless hours, and still have plenty left to see on subsequent visits. Living close by in apartments near Ringling Museum of Art means you can enjoy this incredible collection over and over again.

Be sure to set aside some time to stroll the courtyard of the museum. Simple in its design, the impeccably manicured lawn is dotted with a handful of fountains and sculptures; one can almost imagine themselves transported to some bygone era.

As mentioned, the art museum is just one of the many attractions on this sprawling campus. Taking in all the permanent works of art, in addition to the special exhibits that set up shop in the 30,000-square-foot attached Searing Wing, can take days to fully absorb. But then there’s still the aforementioned Ca’ d’Zan, the Circus Museum, Mable’s stunning garden, the Historic Asolo Theater, and more.
